Country: Germany
Birth: Nov 18, 1786 in Eutin, Oldenburg, Germany
Death: Jun 05, 1826 in London, England
Period: Romantic (1820-1869)

Carl Maria von Weber (1786-1826) was a German composer, conductor, and writer of the Romantic era who became an indispensible figure in the development of German opera. Best known for composing Der Freischütz, Euryanthe, and Oberon, Weber  also wrote important concert works, such as two concertos for clarinet and two symphonies, as well as incidental music, chamber pieces, and songs. Weber's style has Classical roots, though his surprising harmonies, unexpected key changes, and evocative scoring were important innovations for his time, and his reliance on folklore and fantastic literature for inspiration proved influential for other composers of the Romantic period.
